“This is the first time that I’ve been to Iran and I have two reasons for my journey. The first reason is the Iranian tourist attractions and then celebrating our anniversary for cooperation with our Iranian counterparts,” Sokolov mentioned during the ceremony.
He called Tehran Conservatory’s director Behzad Mo’afi a musician who is familiar with music history, and said that cooperation between the two conservatories will have a bright future.
The ceremony continued with several performances by the two conservatories during which musicians performed pieces from each other’s countries
The Moscow Conservatory is a higher musical education institution in Moscow and the second oldest conservatory in Russia after the St. Petersburg Conservatory. Tchaikovsky was appointed professor of theory and harmony, a post he held until approximately 1878. Since 1940, the conservatory has borne Tchaikovsky’s name.
