“I am really glad to be in Iran. Iranians are very kind and hospitable. Iran is similar to my own country. I know a few Iranian guitarists. I think Iran’s music is very strange, yet marvelous,” Lopez added.
Great musicians are being invited to Iran in order to introduce Iran’s culture and music to the world, Tehran Conservatory of Music director Behzad Moafi said at the press conference.
We also hope to promote Iran’s music and train expert music teachers, he explained.
“Music influences the heart. The language of art is the language of peace and friendship. Musicians are messengers of peace in the world,” Almeida observed.
“I will do my best at the ‘Voice of Peace’ concert to seed peace and love in Iranians’ hearts.”
During his one-week sojourn in Iran (August 13-20), Almeida plans to hold two workshops and three master classes for Iranian guitarists and a guitar concert.
Almeida will perform the “Voice of Peace” concert on Thursday at Tehran’s Andisheh Hall, which is located on Hafez Ave., Somayyeh St.
Julio Almeida is a critically acclaimed and internationally respected guitar soloist and chamber musician. His recitals throughout Europe, North America, and South America have been enthusiastically received by the public and the international press alike.
Born in 1961 in Guyaquil, Ecuador, Julio Cesar Almeida Lopez studied classical guitar in his hometown, where he received the title “Professor of Classical Guitar” from the Ministry of Education at the age of 21.
